Alexandra Cohen

Alumna

Alexandra (Alex) Cohen is a member of the American University Washington College of Law (WCL) Class of 2022. Alex also serves on the National Security Brief as a Junior Staffer, on the If/When/How Executive Board as the Vice President of Communications and Community Outreach and has previously served as a Student Attorney for the WCL Re-Entry Clinic and as a Teaching Fellow in the Marshall Brennan Constitutional Literacy Program.

As a TLS Research Assistant, Alex’s research concerns how the Data Protection Review Court comports with the redressability requirement laid out in the Schrems II decision. Prior to law school, Alex worked as a Legal Assistant and Advocacy Division Supervisor with the Family Detention Program of the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Legal Education and Services. There, she managed data collection and advocacy campaigns for detained individuals and continues there now as an Advocacy Legal Assistant. Alex plans to pursue a career in law focusing on privacy, emerging technology, and surveillance. She holds a degree in International Affairs from Trinity University.
